Coconut Sugar Scrub

Coconut Sugar Scrub

A decadent tropical treat for your senses, made from items you probably already have on hand!

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Coconut Oil (*virgin, cold pressed, unrefined)

  • 1 part Cane or Granulated Sugar

  • 1 part Brown Sugar

  • A few drops** Lemongrass Essential Oil or another essential oil to your liking

Directions:

It couldn’t get much simpler folks…put all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix with an electric mixer. Transfer to a glass container with a tight fitting lid.

Use a scoopful on damp skin in the bath/shower and rinse for smooth sultry skin.

Notes:

Choose the type of sugar based upon how exfoliating you want your scrub to be. Larger grains are great for rough patches and feet. Smaller is more suitable for your whole body.

Take care to keep the scrub separate from water in the bath/shower to avoid microbial growth.

*this type of coconut oil is actually a solid at room temperature. I like the virgin, cold pressed, unrefined type because it still has it’s wonderful coconut aroma. You can use a refined version (sometimes they are cheaper…) but they are odorless.

**Essential oils should be handled with care and used in the proper dilution. If you use 1/3 cup each of the oil, white and brown sugar = 1 cup total scrub, you can use up to 1 tsp of essential oil for a safe ratio of 1%. Read more about Essential Oil Dilution Here.
