Serendipities and Empowering Work

August 16th, 2024

I feel energy swirling all around Gypsy Girl Blooms right now…

The energy of my winged friends as they flirt with all of the rupturing flowers… the energy of the sun; baking the hell out of me and the flowers out in the field….the energy of Little Creek babbling next to GGB, which I can harness to water the flowers if we haven’t been graced with the energy of a thunderstorm for a few days.

My own energy is cresting right now too. I feel enlivened by everything I do with Gypsy Girl Blooms. I’ve challenged myself physically with work that I never would have considered doing before. It’s uncomfortable and frustrating as hell, but of course the prize for that type of work is the satisfaction we receive afterwards. And it never ceases to thrill me when little tiny seeds I planted into the dark earth, are awakened and instinctively know how to do their magic.

Even my desires seem to have their own energy because things just keep falling into place; like God is expertly swirling resources and opportunities towards me. My friend owns a wine shop and generously offered for me to host events at her shop. Now, that’s a “slow pitch over home plate” right there!…Wine + Flowers is definitely NOT going to be a hard combo to work with…so stay tuned for some events at Wine Sage! I also had the opportunity to sit down last week with Lauren, the director at Safelight, a local charity serving survivors of interpersonal violence. As we chatted about opportunities to collaborate, she asked if it would be too short-notice to provide flowers two days later, to decorate a fun “Prom” themed evening for the women staying in the shelter… Nope! I’m ready to do that!!

So…today I spent the morning at GGB picking flowers and thinking about the women staying at Safelight and how that could so easily be any one of us. As I collected the flowers I hoped that they would bring a little beauty and delight to the women receiving them, because most certainly they all deserve a little more beauty and delight in their lives.

I brought home the biggest bucket of flowers I’ve picked yet and prepped them for bouquet making. I was joined by my friend, Mary Frances, (who by the way USED TO WORK IN THE FLORAL INDUSTRY which she somehow hadn’t mentioned until a few days ago) and she volunteered her time and expertise to help me make a bouquet for every woman staying at the shelter to decorate their event, which they could each take back to enjoy in their rooms. Driving home from delivering the flowers, I cried tears of gratitude; to have been able to bring Gypsy Girl Blooms to her first little full circle moment.
